Can you guess what this wine is made from? The parcels of fruit for this wine were carefully selected, looking for premium quality and flavour. They are located at higher altitudes at Sugarloaf Creek in Great Western. Great Western produces some of the best varietal Shiraz’ in Australia, and although this is a twist on traditional Shiraz, we believe the quality will not disappoint.
The name Hamill tells a multi-generational story of the Thomson family. This Shiraz is grown in our Sugarloaf vineyard, which is situated amongst the rolling hills surrounding the Black Range.
A vibrant wine with blueberry, raspberry, and cherry notes. This wine is co-fermented with a small addition of Viognier. The Viognier helps brighten the colour, lift the aromatics and enhance the Shiraz flavours on the palate.
Made from Henry Best’s first plantings at our Concongella vineyard, this is a wine that speaks more about history, soil and place than variety, a unique expression of our Australian wine heritage.

Chardonnay was one of the varietals planted in the Concongella Vineyard in the 1970’s despite the fact that cuttings were extremely hard to come by at the time. The fruit for this wine comes from an old single vineyard located in a cool sheltered site within the Great Western GI.
The White Gravels Hill Shiraz is produced from the Concongella Vineyard. There is, as the name suggests, ‘white gravels’ which lay over granite. The geology and soils of the White Gravels Hill are markedly different from the sites directly around the cellars.
Bin 1 is a classic, cool climate, aromatic Shiraz, made in a style that is perfumed, spicy and peppery, yet well balanced. It’s a great match with food – particularly dishes like spring lamb.
