2023 Great Western Riesling

TASTING NOTES

Colour: Pale intensity, with white gold hue.
Bouquet: Pronounced aromas of apricot blossom, coupled with a touch of apple, lemon, and pineapple.
Palate: A palate that consists of primary fresh fruits. A medley of apricot, peach, guava, citrus pith, and lemon sorbet. Unmistakable intensity throughout that is balanced with green apple acidity. This dry style is light bodied.
Cellaring: The youthful freshness on release is so delicious but this wine will enjoy a long life in the cellar. It will gather complex toasty aromas and flavours as the years pass.
Pairing: Best paired with fresh seafood and Asian style salads.
Vintage: 2023 began with a very wet spring. Rain and cool temperatures were the theme up until Christmas. Into the new year, the rain ceased and some warmer weather followed. The 2023 vintage was long and late with the first Riesling grapes being harvested in early March. This long cool vintage allowed fruit flavours to mature, while natural acidity was retained.
