2015 Great Western Bin No. 1 Shiraz
Best’s Great Western has garnered experience as a Shiraz House through its long winemaking history, dating back to 1866. Bin No. 1 Shiraz is often the wine that introduces people to the regional style of Great Western Shiraz.
Made from Best’s own vineyards, as well as fruit from well-respected local growers, this wine is meticulously crafted with the same attention to detail as the Icon wines. Bin No. 1 Shiraz represents the essence of Best’s Great Western's winemaking ideals and the uniqueness of the Great Western region.
Bin No. 1 is a classic, cool-climate, aromatic Shiraz, made in a style that is perfumed, spicy and peppery, yet well balanced with no overt dominance of alcohol. It’s a great match with food, particularly dishes such as spring lamb.
Waffle: Obviously I do not know the correct wine banter but for those of us who just want to know if it's good or not - Yes it is 10/10. This is what a shiraz is all about. This wine did not last long at my house, I could write a number of excuses why it didn't but I won't bore you with these as it was quite simply delicious. This wine is the good pair of jeans that everyone needs, you can dress it up with a dinner party with wine snobs and an eye fillet or dress it down (like myself) enjoying a pizza in your trackies. This price point, the renowned name and the quality of the product allows for this.
This wine feels very sensual and grabs your attention without demanding it. I am sure you can keep it in your wine rack/cellar for a while but I would advise to drink it now and don't wait.
I will happily invite this shiraz back to my place most weekends.
