2021 Great Western Rosé

“This is a superbly dry Rose, great nose and a pale pink hue. We no longer need to go to Provence for Rose. With the cup coming up I feel I have already won the trifecta! It was a perfect drink without food. Then I tried it with crusty bread, butter, king prawns and a home made seafood sauce. Fantastic! Finally a soft ripe cheese and bread a great way to finish. Give it a go. But a case, have a bottle on cup day and the last bottle New Years Eve. Cheers. Rating 5/5”

“Lively yet savoury zing on this Pinot Meunier dominant Rose. Sumac watermelon. Damn. Confected Christmas cake fruit, cherry, orange peel. Umami notes – mushroom, earth – act as harmonious seasoning which adheres an interesting backbone for this delicate Rose. Cranberry juice and red apple skins. A decent amount of complexity holds my interest and I can’t help wanting to pull some ashed goats cheese from the fridge. Fine peppery spice and macerated strawberries reign on its crisp finish.” Rating 5/5

2021 Great Western Riesling

A white floral intensity escapes glass like genie from bottle taking me to some of the most iconic bouquets of Mosel. Waxy green apple, sherbet lemons, I refill my glass to the idyllic experience. Orange Blossom, bloom of first roses, gee this is pretty. A wild and electric current of integrated acid. Lively and pulsing, there is a residual chalkiness which is so appealing, in turn appeasing the wines lemon juice concentration. Generous fruit and Great Western confidence make for incomprehensible value here. Lovely!  Rating 5/5

This is a ripping “Rizza’. It’s light straw in colour with flashes of pale gold. A solid swirl reveals aromas of lemon curd and lime zest with the florally fragrant lift of lemon blossom and honeysuckle. There’s also a beguiling summer sniff of rain on a hot slate stone path. In the mouth there’s a full-frontal flush of citrus flavours with a lively line of acid leading to a lingering and satisfying finish. We enjoyed our bottle with a Thai yellow curry of chicken infused with palm sugar, fish sauce and kafir lime leaves – a fantastic combination. Top stuff this!

2019 LSV Shiraz

Colour is dark crimson with a purple heart Long legs running down the glass. Nose is lifted with floral notes. Mulberry, plum with a hint of clove, black olive, cedar and black rose petal. Beautiful nose. So warm and soft on the palate. The elevation of the vineyard speaks. Black fruits, mulberry and plum continue from the bouquet. Beautifully balanced. Fruits and acid in harmony with spices of white pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon. Lovely soft tannins yet to integrate. I would love to taste this wine in 20 years. Match with slow cooked beef cheeks or pink lamb cutlets with a reduction sauce made with this wine. Rating 5/5

Beautiful Shiraz, medium to full bodied full mouth feel. Dark fruits, plumbs and Blackberry. There is such a harmonious balance to this wine, seductive smooth and moreish. Not a hair out of place! Amazing value at the price and should develop some interesting secondary characteristics over time. Highly recommend.” 5 stars
