2018 Sparkling Shiraz
TASTING NOTES
Colour: Deep dark magenta with a glazed ruby hue. A rocky mousse fills the glass then subsides to reveal a lace of fine persistent bubbles.
Bouquet: Intense and lifted aromatics of sarsaparilla, black pepper and brambleberries. Secondary notes of fresh bread, tanned leather and fermented meats from maturation in barrel and on lees in bottle.
Palate: Fresh and vibrant. Intense dark fruit flavours bounce around the fruit tingle finish. The perfect accompaniment to celebrate Christmas 2021.
Vintage: The vineyards set off to a great start in spring, but dry conditions throughout spring triggered a devastating frost on 4th November 2017. The grapes on the lower vineyards were lost, but those on higher elevations were largely unaffected. Apart from a few warm days in January the conditions throughout the season were excellent and perfect ripening weather continued long into Autumn.

REVIEWS
Australian Wine Guide – Clive Hartley, January 2022
2 years on lees with 17gm/litre of residual sugar. Black cherry with a hint of jammy confectionary fruits. Palate retains its dryness due to a nice acid balance. Creamy palate that is elegant and fruit driven sitting still in the cherry, cola spectrum. Medium bodied and finish. Good representation of this traditional wine style for Great Western. Highly recommended.
