2014 Bin No. 0 Shiraz
96 points - James Halliday
Colour Inky dark red with a bright purple hue.
Bouquet Floral and lifted spice aromas mingle with the jubey fruit and meaty/black olive notes. Subtle oak, cinnamon, bay leaf and peppermint fill the background.
Palate Intense and brooding flavours of cool fruits and warm spices create a plush mouthfeel around the fresh minerality and the long rolling finish. A classic Bin No. 0 that will drink well now with food, but will benefit from time in bottle. Try it with a Moroccan Slow Cooked Lamb Tagine served on a bed of couscous mixed with finely chopped fresh mint, pomegranate and almonds.
Cellaring Will reward both short term to long-term cellaring (20 years+).
Vintage A relatively cool season apart from a mid-summer heat wave. Although yields were much lower than normal, good vineyard management ensured the grapes ripened fully and had lots of complex varietal flavours and balanced acidity.
