As we delve deeper into the world of wine and strengthen our bonds with winemakers, we’re excited to announce our partnership with Best’s Wines for an evening of fine wine and delicious cuisine.
Don’t miss out on discovering the secrets behind one of Australia’s oldest and most esteemed wineries, Best’s Wines Great Western, dating back to 1866. Join us for a five-course menu degustation crafted by The Que Club’s smoke and fire kitchen, expertly paired with classic and fresh releases from Best Wines. With Hamish from Best Wines in house on the night, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about Best’s winemaking secrets and more. This promises to be a delightful evening filled with wine, food, and a touch of education.

Come along and sample Bests’ quality wines. Weather permitting this event will be held in our beautiful alfresco courtyard.
A representative from Bests Wines will be available to answer any questions and discuss the wines with you during the afternoon.
Choose from the eleven wines on offer, including Best’s 2020 Riesling, 2017 Riesling (Foudre Ferment), 2020 Rose, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Also an opportunity to taste their 2016 Shiraz Viognier, which has won numerous awards awards and was rates 95 points by James Halliday in 2019.
There will be an opportunity to purchase wines to take home from Bests directly at the end of the afternoon.
WINE TASTING INCLUDES:
- Five (60 ml) glasses of the eleven wines on offer
- An entrée of either Tempura battered flathead pieces OR Arancini
- A Cheese platter to share between two.

Urban Wine Walk- St Kilda
After the Sold-out success of the Ballarat Urban Wine Walk in February, we are thrilled to be involved with the Urban Wine Walk again this Autumn. In case you missed it the @urbanwinewalk is heading to St Kilda on Saturday, 11th May and we’re excited to be partnering up with team from Captain Baxter for the occasion! 'Best's Blind Archies' - Wine and Art Experience
‘Best’s Blind Archies’ – Come along to Best’s Great Western on Saturday 18th May for an afternoon of art and wine tasting. The session will be facilitated by local art teacher Dale Harris and includes all materials with the end result being 6 artworks that you can take home with you. Plus there will be a prize for the best portrait which will be judged by a member of the Thomson Family. The session will run from 1-4pm (3hrs)
Includes:
- Wine Tasting during the art session (or complimentary soft drink, beer or cider)
- Art Supplies
- Small charcuterie plate (please advise of any dietary requirements via email info@bestswines.com

We love a long weekend at our cellar door, and we have created a tasting experience that features wines from across all our ranges so that our guests, really can experience it all. Book in for a ‘Long Weekend Tasting Experience’ and sample wines from across all our ranges.
Our Pick a Platter cheese boards will be available throughout the weekend. Remember if you are travelling with children or adults not intending to drink, please specify this in the booking notes so we can seat you appropriately. Booking take priority over walk ins.
Cost: $10 Tasting, Pick a Platter from $10-$70 depending on selection.
Museum Wine Night- July 2024
Best’s Wines Museum Nights are a rare and unique opportunity to try aged wines from the depths of our underground cellar. Guests are able to sample back vintage wines before deciding on a favourite and settling in with a glass. Plus there is live music and ‘Pick a Platter’ cheese boards available on the night. Entry fee is inclusive of a glass of sparkling on arrival (red or white) and four tastings of museum wines. If you would like to stay nearby, check out our blog Places to Stay in Great Western. Not a big wine drinker but keen to come along? Book a non-tasting entry ticket. Maximum 40 tickets
