Best's Wines

At Best’s, we have a long and rich history of winemaking.  We always have a selection of Museum Release wines available for purchase from various years and varietals.  If you are interested in purchasing museum release wines, please contact Nicole at nicole.major@bestswines.com or call on (03) 53562250 and she will be able to talk you through what is available.  Alternatively, drop into our cellar door and ask our staff about available museum release wines.

One of our ‘best kept secrets’ is that at Best’s Great Western, we have some of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in the world, dating back to the late 1860's.  Click photo for for information on recent tasting by our Wine maker Justin Purser.

To commemorate their centenary year as vignerons, Viv Thomson and his family specially selected this 1992 Great Western shiraz produced entirely from vines planted by Henry Best in the late 1860's.  What is now known the Thomson Family Shiraz Block.

This shiraz epitomises all that is "Concongella" Great Western.

Deep rich garnet, colour not showing much age.  A lively palate with velvety tannins, fresh acidity, and long generous finish.  Rich intensity yet delicate.  Still youthful.

Our Thomson Family Shiraz has been made only nine times in 20 years and has become a highly collectible and sought-after wine.

The fruit flavours here are strong and dark, more so than you would normally expect of a Great Western Shiraz.  It gives the wine a sense of gravity and command.  Drink to 2040.
