Back Vintage Wine
Within the original 1800’s nursery block at Concongella there is a row of vines which Henry Best named Pinot Dru in his daily journal. It has since been identified as Cabernet Sauvignon. Further planting’s of Cabernet Sauvignon did not take place until 1980 and 1982 when it, along with Merlot was planted to the 13-acre block at Concongella.
Cabernet Sauvignon is the last variety to bud and the last to fully ripen.

Made from our 1980's "Cellar Block" mixed clone, and our "Old Orchard" vines which were planted in 1987 from the original 1860's cuttings.
Our Old Vine Pinot Meunier is picked of our 2 original blocks planted in 1868. With the first single variety 'Millers Burgundy' produced in in 1967, it has been a part of the Best's ever since. Know for its gentle fruit structure, balance and longevity, it has a unique place in the Australian wine arena.
