The White Gravels Hill Shiraz is produced from the Concongella Vineyard. There is, as the name suggests, ‘white gravels’ which lay over granite. The geology and soils of the White Gravels Hill are markedly different from the sites directly around the cellars.
Dolcetto, previously labelled Malbeck with a ‘k”, was first planted in the Nursery Block at Best’s in the late 1860’s, and all subsequent plantings at Best’s have come from cuttings of these original vines.
This unique wine comes from our ‘Young Vine’ plantings of Pinot Meunier which were established in 1970. Although eminently drinkable now, previous examples of this wine prove that it will age gracefully for many decades if cellared correctly.

Best’s Sparkling Shiraz epitomises the regional characteristics with plenty of spice and plummy fruit characters. The dosage liqueur for this wine contains a small quantity of very old Best’s Liqueur Muscat that gives the wine an added layer of interest and complements the style.
