Best's Great Western 2014 Bin 1 Shiraz

Deep red-magenta with a violet hue

An incredibly elegant shiraz with spicy freshness and vibrant red fruits with a hint of dark chocolate. Drinking well now but will age well due to the ripe tannins.

Had this shiraz with a nice sirloin steak and green salad. Very smooth wine. Better than the 2013 vintage.

This still young Shiraz while drinkingwell now hints at what a few years in a cellar could bring. I found a cool climate nose of pepper bayleaf and dried herbs with some blue fruits.

Restrained plum notes on the palate and dusty tannins would pair well with most red meat dishes. I will be buying some to put away for a few years.

Dense garnet colour. Rich fruit and good balance on the nose. Very approachable now and will only get better with age.

This 2014 Shiraz is deep Ruby colour, very youthful black fruits, blackberry, plum, with a hint of dark chocolate, lavender, cedar. The wine has good complexity and medium long length, pairs very well with blue cheese and grilled steak!

Bright purple. Nose of sweet vanilla, red fruits, mulberry, mocha and a slight hint of pepper. Good length with a well balanced palate. Very approachable wine and a great example of a cooler climate Shiraz.

Both a friend and myself were blown away by the smoothness of this shiraz. I'm a blend person myself but this shiraz is magnificent. Definitely recommend this shiraz to any shiraz lovers and blend drinkers should give it whirl you won't be disappointed.

Wow! We thought the 2013 vintage was good, but Bin 1 Shiraz never disappoints. Whe have been enjoying bests wines since visiting the region a family holiday in 2010, we enjoyed this wine with good friends and a hearty slow braised beef cheeks dish cooked with Shiraz and juniper berries it was very smooth and full flavoured with nice spicy, peppery and fruity undertones.

I am normally never, ever a Shiraz drinker….but I have been converted! This was beautifully smooth with a lovely lush balance of flavours. My Husband and I enjoyed this one snuggled together eating chocolate!

This is why we keep coming back for(and cellaring)Bests wines with absolute confidence. The fruit is always a true reflection of the terroir and year. There are no winemaking gimmicks, just great wine left to speak for itself. The mouthfeel and richness of the fruit stand out.Plums, nutmeg, cherry ripe and typical Great Western pepper, make you sit up straight and take notice. With a piece of blue porterhouse, you smile smugly at the length, and the perfect pitch of the tannins.Age shall not weary this ripper.See you in 10 years when you add a bit of patina to your repertoir.

This is a very good wine for its price, especially if you are a Magnum Club member. I preferred the 2013 Shiraz at this stage of its development but this wine will come up to the mark with cellaring. It is certainly very enjoyable to drink now with all the characteristics expected of a Bin 1 Shiraz.

At the price this is a very enjoyable wine - complex enogh on the nose, good fruit and tannin balance considering no new oak treatment. Maintaining Best's high standards.

I have been enjoying Bests wine for many years, and they have never disappointed. I will continue to purchase and drink their wine, and recommend the wine to all.

Love this wine! Been a Bests customer since 1980. Bought wine for our wedding in April 81😀 I know what I like but got to confess all the talk of notes of chocolate or hints of berry's loses me completely! To me it tastes like wine in this case Shiraz and a very good one! Know this is totally unsophisticated and I am a member of a couple of very good wine clubs but really I'm at a loss as to where all that comes from even when told what it is I am expected to taste??? Oh well cheers!! 🍷
