Pinot Meunier is among the oldest vines planted at our Concongella vineyard, dating back to 1868. Planted as Miller Burgundy, it was used to blend with other varieties until 1967, when Viv Thomson convinced his father to make a single varietal wine. That first single varietal vintage was so good, it's been made that way ever since and now has a cult following for the limited parcels that we release. Along with the historical Shiraz planted beside it, these wines show great balance, length and fruit breadth, with an ability to age exceeding well.

A lovely example of Great Western Chardonnay.  The wine maker describes this wine as having creamy flavours of savoury biscuits and baked peaches, balanced by the delicate acidity and dry finish.

Our "House Block" is as it says, is planted beside the Best's homestead and produces some exceptional parcels of fruit. In the best years we take these parcels and make something a little special out of them. Picked earlier, these wines have great flavours and are made off dry to balance the wine, making a great all round style.

From a past era of Best's history. Our Vintage Port have been carefully aged in our cellars since we ceased making them in 2005. They were made with fruit and spirit made at our winery in Lake Boga, not far from Swan Hill. Fortified wine was once the back bone of the wine industry but has been in steady decline since the 1970's when dry whites and reds became more prominent.
