Best Grampians Accommodation

If you have plans to stay in the Grampians any time soon, you’re in luck! The Best’s team has compiled a list of the top places to stay while you’re in our neighborhood. It goes without saying that you should include a visit to Best’s historic cellar door on your must-do list.

HALLS GAP

Boroka Downs
This award-winning luxury retreat is for adults only and is situated on a secluded property in the Halls Gap area. Choose to stay in villas or bungalows, each boasting its own spa and log fire and views of the surrounding wildlife and breathtaking green life.

DULC
DULC – it stands for Down Under Log Cabins. These architect-designed cabins are either single- or double-storey, and camouflage with the surrounding natural bush land. Rough-sawn timbers, polished concrete, wooden floors and floor-to-ceiling windows make each cabin a thoroughly modern yet private place to enjoy the seclusion of this natural wonderland.

Harvest
Harvest in Halls Gap is master of all trades – café, provedore and modern accommodation and it’s only 30 minutes from Best’s Wines. Harvest makes a great place to stay while you’re visiting the region and serves hearty breakfasts, lunches and dinners in between all your sightseeing activities.

Grampians Motel
Grampians Motel is set on parkland in peaceful surroundings and is perfect for those planning on visiting Grampians National Park. The accommodation options suit all holidaymakers, whether you’re a family or a couple on a romantic weekend. All rooms have stunning uninterrupted views of the mountain ranges with wildlife at your front door, including kangaroos, emu, echidna, deer and various bird varieties. For larger groups, the Bellfield Two-Bedroom Studio has full cooking facilities with a large deck and is ideal for a family of up to six guests.

STAWELL

Magdala Motor Lodge
Magdala Motor Lodge is 4km from the centre of Stawell and 15km from Halls Gap. Set back from the Western Highway, this lodge makes a quiet rural haven with loads of wildlife and the majestic River Red Gum trees surrounding your views. The lodge also boats a fully licensed restaurant, indoor heated pool and spa, 800m lakeside walking track, tennis court, and conference and meeting room facilities.

Comfort Inn Goldfields
Comfort Inn Goldfields is located in the historic gold-producing town of Stawell, about 15 minutes from Halls Gap and Grampians National Park. This accommodation makes a perfect overnight stop for long-distance travellers on the Western Highway, or as a base to explore the fantastic Grampians and Western Victoria, including waterfalls, bush walks, wildflowers, sightseeing, wineries, gold fossicking and exploring historic townships.

GREAT WESTERN

Vine Lodge Homestead at Seppelt Winery
Fancy staying somewhere historic? Vine Lodge is a homestead on the grounds of Seppelt Winery. It has hosted a number of dignitaries including Mark Twain, Dame Nelly Melba and Australia's first Governor General, Lord Hopetoun. This place was originally built in the 1800s and has not lost any of its beauty or charm. It accommodates seven guests with its three bedrooms and had ample room for visitors to wander through its well-manicured grounds.

Best’s Cottage (Seppelt)
Best’s Cottage is part of the historic Seppelt Winery precinct – it’s the original 1860s home of Best’s Wines family member Joseph Best. The cottage adjoins the magnificent Vine Lodge and the historic Seppelt Winery and Underground Drives. The cottage has a kitchenette, with toaster, microwave and kettle, but does not feature a cooking facility. A barbecue and shared bathroom are provided. The cottage is close to the Grampians National Park and is located in the centre of the Grampians wine region with great views of the surrounding vineyards.

Salingers
This historic cottage is situated right next door to Salingers Café, which makes for a handy stop-in for lunch and dinner (don’t miss the chicken and leek pie!). Friendly staff at the cafe provide assistance and answer any questions guests may have about the accommodation or the local area. The cottage itself is very spacious and makes a great option for families or a group of friends travelling together.

Westgate Vineyard & Country House B&B
Looking for somewhere to stay close to Best’s cellar door? Westgate Vineyard & Country House is a 10-minute drive on a working farm of 280 hectares with sheep, cattle and horses. It makes a beautiful place to stay while you’re in our neck of the woods. The B&B is a generously sized, comfortable place to stay and boasts glorious views of the region facing east to make the most of the morning sun and the vineyard views below with the Pyrenees Ranges beyond.

DUNKELD

Royal Mail Hotel
The Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld is a local institution (one-hour drive from Best’s) with a glorious kitchen garden and variously sized hotel rooms ranging from simply furnished garden rooms, through to deluxe mountain view rooms and self-contained apartments that take advantage of the stunning natural surroundings. Mt Sturgeon Homestead, located on a nearby working sheep farm, is a six-bedroom accommodation option available through the Royal Mail Hotel with adjoining stone cottages that showcase region’s history. Don’t forget to book your dinner at Royal Mail and choose a bottle or two from the restaurant’s extensive wine list featuring museum Best’s wines.
